The water department issued the following:
The Bristol Water Department has found a water main break on Main Street near the Bristol Library. Since the library is open until 8:00 PM and is a warming center for the City, we will not begin work to repair the break until this evening. Crews are scheduled to be on site after 7:00 PM.
Water to the area will need to be shut off to make the necessary repairs. Our crews will not be shutting water off to the area until after the library closes at 8:00 PM, unless situations change and an earlier shut down is required. Water customers on Main Street from High Street to Center Street and the surrounding area may be affected.
We anticipate the repairs to take approximately 6 to 8 hours to complete. Crews will remain on site until service has been restored to all customers. Once service has been restored, customers may experience discolored water. If you experience discolored water, please run a cold water faucet until the discoloration clears.
