The third annual Reading on the Green this year is the kick-off to the summer reading program, designed for younger children of reading age, will be held June 20. However, older children are welcome. It is sponsored in conjunction with the Bristol Public Library, Kids in the Middle, Early Childhood Alliance, Bristol Historical Society, and the American Clock and Watch Museum.

This year the program includes author Donna LaBlanc, who will read and sign her book “Explorations of Commander Josh;” Meris Palmer, teller of tales; and costumed characters (a big monkey and big brown bear). The clock museum is doing a clock motif reading. Children’s books will be given away. Reading to Dogs will also be in attendance. The children will have a chance to win prizes. The wearing of the color green is encouraged by all.

Parents are asked to bring blankets or beach chairs for added comfort. This program is free and no registration is required. The program will be held on Saturday, June 20 (rain date of June 21) from 2 to 4 pm at the Federal Hill Green, Bristol.
