State Representatives Whit Betts (R-Bristol, Plymouth) and Cara Pavalock (R-Bristol) participated in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. They collected donations as they greeted holiday shoppers during the hour-long event on Monday, Dec. 7 at Walmart located at 1400 Farmington Ave., Bristol. Walmart plans to match the donation.
“This is our second year participating in this great event and I continued to be moved and inspired by the generosity of the people in our community,” said Betts, who again donned a festive Christmas hat and garland scarf to get the attention of passersby, according a press release from House Republicans. “I want to thank all of the holiday shoppers who stopped by and gave from the heart. The funds collected this evening, in addition to those collected throughout the holiday season by the Salvation Army, will go a long way to helping those in need.”
“For many of the families in our community, the holidays can be a particularly difficult time of year financially,” said Pavalock, according to the press release. “I’m honored to again participate in Red Kettle Campaign and support this very worthy cause. There is a real need out there, and I am grateful to the Salvation Army for its continued support of the residents in our greater community, not just at the holidays, but throughout the year.”
Betts and Pavalock were joined by Salvation Army Lieutenant Taylor Senak of the Bristol Corps, along with Salvation Army members Craig Morgan and his son, Paul Morgan.
