BBGC to host CT AAU gymnastics meet May 6, 7

Bristol Family Center Gymnastics of the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol Family Center has won the bid to host the CT AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Gymnastics Meet for the second year in a row. The two day event, being held on May 6 and 7 in the club’s 14,000 sq ft. Fiondella Field House is expected to bring more than 350 participants from around the state, along with their cheering family and friends to Bristol.

“We are thrilled to be selected to host this prestigious event again this year! Our entire staff, and gymnastics community looks forward to showcasing our athletes and facility” explained Bristol FCGymnastics program director and head coach Jessica Morelli. “Our competitive AAU Team has grown to 70 members this year who are all very much looking forward to the competitive two day event.”

In the 2015 Meet, FCG placed first in the bronze level, second in the silver level, third in the gold level, and second in the platinum level.

“I feel proud that we are hosting CT Districts.” said 18 year old member, Dejah Holley, according to a press release. “I’ve been in the Family Center Gymnastics program since I was 5 years old and we were never able to host such a big event in the past. As a gymnast, and junior coach for FCG, it is very exciting to be the hosting team for the second year in a row.”

The City of Bristol and Bristol Chamber of Commerce are working with Bristol FCGymnastics to encourage visitors to patronize local restaurants, museums, and other attractions during their stay with exclusive promotions.

Admission is $5 per person and is open to the public on Friday, May 6 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 7 from 9a.m. to 8 p.m.
