Fish for free in CT Saturday

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ The state of Connecticut is opening up its lakes, rivers and other bodies of water for fishing at no charge.

The annual “Free Fishing Day” on Saturday is designed to encourage residents to try the sport.

No fishing license will be required for either state residents or nonresidents.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection also is holding a “Family Fishing Day” at Stratton Brook State Park in Simsbury. It will include fishing at the pond, fish sampling, fish stocking, a fish fry, nature hikes and other activities.

The group Trout Unlimited also will be there to teach people fly casting and fly tying.Connecticut-flag
