On Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the Children’s Department at the Bristol Public Library offers its seventh annual safety fair. The Safety Fair offers free bike helmets to children, bike helmet fitting, child identification kits, safety information, safety crafts, bike riding rodeo, and more.
The Bristol Elks Club is donating free bicycle helmets to be given to the first children who come. Members of the Bristol Elks will be present to help fit bike helmets and distribute bike safety information. If your child is not one of the first children, please bring a bike helmet from home to have it fitted properly.
In addition to the helmet donation and fitting, the Bristol Elks and the traffic division of the Bristol Police Department are sponsoring a riding rodeo. Children are encouraged to bring their bikes to ride through a road track. The riding rodeo helps kids learn about safe bike riding habits. All children who bring a bike and ride receive a special prize!
Bristol Pediatric Center is donating more helmets to be given to the first children who come to the Safety Fair.
CTCHIP is a comprehensive child identification program designed to give families a measure of protection against the ever increasing problem of missing children. The program consists of four major components: a brief videotaped interview, a digital still photograph, fingerprinting, and dental bite impression.
People’s United Bank is donating bike helmets to be given away free to the first children who come to the safety fair.
