The Parent and ChildCenter at BristolHospital recently was awarded an official citation by the Connecticut General Assembly. The citation recognizes the Parent and ChildCenter’s efforts with its Blue Ribbon Campaign, which took place in April and raises awareness of child abuse.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and all the funds raised from the sale of blue ribbons help support the center’s educational programs including classes on communicating with your child, discipline and dealing with a child’s anger.
The citation was introduced by members of the Bristol delegation including state Rep. Frank Nicastro, (D-Bristol); state Rep. Christopher Wright, (D-Bristol); state Rep. Whit Betts, (R-Bristol), and state Sen. Jason Welch (R-Bristol).
The primary focus of the Parent and Child Center at Bristol Hospital—which partners and is supported by the Connecticut District Exchange Clubs—includes the prevention of child abuse, neglect, and family violence by providing support systems for families. The center’s programs target several areas that have been identified as crucial to developing strong, nurturing families.
