State Senator Jason Welch (R-Bristol) on Wednesday announced in a press release that he endorses State Senate Republican Leader John McKinney to be the next governor of the state of Connecticut.

“With our Party’s convention less than three weeks away, I felt it was important for me to publicly let my constituents know which candidate I believe will best represent their interests in the governor’s office. John McKinney is that candidate,” Welch said in the press release. “John is one of the most intelligent and studied legislators I have had the pleasure of working with and learning from during my time in the Senate. On the most important economic issues of the day, John has a plan to improve Connecticut’s business climate, reduce unemployment and make it more affordable for the middle class to live and work in Connecticut.”

In a press release, McKinney said, “ “Jason has shown great dexterity in balancing his professional responsibilities with his commitment to family and public service. He is highly regarded in his community and in the legislature for his principled, reasoned approach to solving problems. I am grateful for his endorsement and look forward to working with him to better understand and address specific issues affecting the people of Bristol, Harwinton, Plainville, Plymouth and Thomaston.”
