Mark your calendars: Cash Mob coming to Clock and Watch Museum next week

Back in January, Bristol Rising held a survey on who the public wanted to see receive a Cash Mob this year — a one-day event that encourages all members of the community to come and spend a minimum amount of $10 or so, to support that local business, boosting their visibility, and providing a monetary shot in the arm while keeping the dollars local.
After the survey, a lottery was held providing top vote-getting establishments
the best chance to receive a Mob. Three were awarded a Mob this year. West End Pizza won the first,
held in March, which was a success. The second organization to win a Mob was the
American Clock & Watch Museum.
Bristol Rising said in a press release this is the very first Cash Mob at a museum in the state of Connecticut “It’s an exciting opportunity, a great cause, and we’re thrilled for Clock and Watch,” said Bristol Rising’s Community Liaison Mark Walerysiak Jr. in a press release. “We thought the mechanism of the Cash Mob and its power to boost local assets and keep dollars local lent itself perfectly to a place like the American Clock & Watch Museum, where we can pay admission and still purchase gift items, but perhaps more importantly, appreciate the amazing culture they’ve created with this awesome chronology of clocks. It’s different than your typical mob, but in many ways, more meaningful. We hope people support them in force.”
The Mob is scheduled to take place all-day Wednesday, Aug. 13. The museum opens its doors at 10 a.m., and tickets will be available at the door for $6 for adults, $3 for children, and $5 or seniors (65+).
There also will be a Nightcap Mob Event, which will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Admission to the Nightcap Mob Event costs $10 for adults and $5 for children, and will provide event goers a self-guided tour of the museum, which will then funnel mobbers into a festive soiree area with a time-stopping musical performance by Bristol’s own country bumpkin Jason Garrish, who will perform a special Clock & Watch oriented song. There also will be special tasting of a brand new to-be-unveiled beverage offering from Firefly Brewing Co, and breakfast-brunchy menu offerings from Parkside Café.
“It’s all so tremendous and we’re thankful for the opportunity to be mobbed by the community,” said museum Director of Interpretation Colleen Nicastro in the press release. “We work so hard year-round in the museum, but many people still have never been, so to have crowds come and mob us, to see the gem we are and appreciate what we do, is priceless.”
