The Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce hosted a Business After Hours event and Beautification Awards at Lake Compounce on Aug. 20.
Beautification Awards, chosen by the Chamber Beautification Committee and the Men’s Bristol Garden Club, were presented to Bristol residents or companies who made strides to beautify their property through landscaping, maintenance, or physical improvements.
Nominations were collected from the public and winners were chosen by the Men’s Bristol Garden Club.
This year’s award winners were: Large Business First Place: McDonalds – Farmington Avenue; Small Business First Place: George’s Terryville Avenue Market accepted by George Maljevic; Non-Profit First Place: St Stanislaus Church accepted by Dave Preleski; Municipal First Place: Bristol Engine Company No. 5 accepted by Chief Jon Pose; Vegetable Garden First Place: Bob McGinn and Rick Balboni; Private Residence Winners: Rose Englert, William Leone, Kit and Penny Critchley, and Ed Bogun; Chamber Choice Award: Lake Compounce; Mayor’s Choice Award: Dutton Heights accepted by Bristol Housing Authority CEO Mitzy Rowe; Best in Show: Springfield Spring Corporation accepted by Connecticut Division President Norman Rogrigues.
Finalists included: Large Business: Callen School Professional Building, and Associated Spring; Small Business: Funk Funeral Home, and Furey, Donovan, Tracy and Daly, PC; Non-Profit: A. Barlett Giamatti Leadership Training Center, American Legion Post 2, and Forestville Village Association; Municipal: Main Street (East Side), and West End Association; Vegetable Garden: Cambridge Park (Boys/Girls Club Summer Program), Ann Ceneviva, and O’Connell School; Private Residence: Wava Layton, Sherryl Litwinczyk, Frank and Judy Elchorn, and Allan Czellecz.
