In honor of Constitution Day, State Senate candidate Rob Michalik released the following statement:

“On Wednesday, September 17, 2014 we celebrate Constitution Day – the 227th anniversary of the signing of United State Constitution. More than two centuries ago, our Founding Fathers gathered together in Philadelphia to put forward their vision for a new nation.   Since then, the U.S. Constitution has served as an inspiration to scores of other nations hoping to establish a free and just society. It has also been a beacon to millions of families who have come to this country in search of liberty and prosperity.

Each year on September 17th, we recognize the enduring strength of our Constitution – the longest surviving written constitution in the world. In this day and age, when our politics are far too divisive, it is important that we remember the principles and ideals that we all share. As a result, I hope that you will all join me in taking a few moments on Constitution Day to reflect on the lasting significance of the U.S. Constitution, the rights and liberties it affords all of us, and the ties that bind us together as Americans.”
