Art and poetry mingle this Saturday at Artist Tree Tea House

On Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m., Lorna Cyr and her group of poets will be the honored and celebrated artists for the night at ArtistTree Teahouse.
Lorna Cyr’s art will be accompanied by the Free Poets Collective of Middletown. Colin Haskins will be the host.
Lorna Morris Cyr as an artist has used many different mediums, but prefers working with oil paints. Her work has appeared in galleries from Maine to Florida. She has been a member of art leagues from Connecticut to Florida, serving on the Board of Directors of the St. Petersburg’s Art League as an active participate in mall shows.
She has served on the Board of Directors of Oil Drum Art and was selected to be one of the artists to appear on Fox News and CBS (“The Early Show”) in New York City with her oil drum artwork. The two galleries she currently enjoys showing her work in are ArtSpace, Hartford and ArtWell, Torrington,
Lorna is also a well-published poet and served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Poetry Society for over 12 years as the publicist. Lorna has been the president of the Bristol Chapter of the Connecticut Poetry Society.
She is currently retired from a career in broadcast media; she was the first female graduate of The Connecticut School of Broadcasting back in 1969. Her career has spanned, WHNB-TV 30 (NBC), United Cable Television, and ESPN. She is active volunteer in public relations for several non-profit organizations.
Free Poets Collective is a poetry group in Middletown that has been featured at the Button Wood Tree of Middletown.
Colin Haskins has worked with young writers for over a decade, helping get them published, premiered, and celebrated.
Dori Green, the owner of ArtistTree, said in a press release, “Lorna Cyr and Colin Haskins were my old friends from many years ago. I used to enjoy poetry with them and celebrated the spoken word with many venues sharing our story of life and love of art and poetry itself.
“I have been glad to meet such great people and am honored to celebrate them on this special day! I hope you will come to show your support and get involved with our upcoming poetry nights that Collin will help kick off from this event.”
Admission is $8 at the door, or $4 with a donation of canned goods, men’s clothing, or any art supplies.
Your paid admission gives you a free entrance ticket to the door prizes. There will be light snacks and refreshments provided.
No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Please call ahead to be added to a comp list. There will be no comps at the door the day of the event. ArtistTree TeaHouse GALLERY156 (Artisan Teas and Gifts) is at 156 and 160 School St. Bristol, CT.
